Foreboding and innocent, the art of Henry Darger illuminates a world where the differences between children and adults are magnified and chaotic. His work is at once violent and joyful, dark and comical. This duality is something we feel to be extremely important and authentic in Spring Awakening. Frank Wedekind created a world where knowledge and ignorance are equally deadly, and we believe Darger's work hauntingly and hilariously exemplifies that.
